In order to study the effect of Shengxuan 6 on the improvement of wheat scab resistance in Huanghuai wheat area, hybrid combinations were compounded by using four elite varieties: Aikang 58,Zhoumai 25,Zhoumai 27,and Lankao 161 in Huanghuai area as female parents and Shengxuan 6 as male parent.Four groups of F2 population were identified for scab resistance in the mid-lower Yangtze River plain(Chongming in Shanghai,Chuzhou in Anhui) and Huanghuai area(Lankao in Henan). The results showed that the scab resistance of F2 population of four combinations was significantly improved than that of the susceptible parents, and the mean diseased spikelets rate was between 18.4% and 31.2%,which reached the moderate resistance(MR) level. The resistance levels of the four groups were mainly centralized in the R and MR grades, accounting for about 80%.The proportion of MS,S and HS level was very low, accounting for about 20%.The resistance of Aikang 58/Shengxuan 6 F2 population was significantly different in two different ecological regions(Chuzhou and Lankao).Although the resistance both reached the MR level in two regions, the resistance in Chuzhou was significantly better than that in Lankao. The number of the HS single plant in Lankao was 7.4 times of that in Chuzhou, while the number for MR was less than half in Chuzhou.Meanwhile, the ratio of resistant to susceptible was 65∶35 in Lankao, but 89∶19 in Chuzhou. This phenomenon is probably related to the climate difference between two areas in 2015,when wheat scab in Huanghuai winter wheat area was more serious than that in mid-lower Yangtze River, and also corresponds to the fact that the scab-resistance of most wheat cultivars in mid-lower Yangtze River are above MR,and that are HS in Huanghuai winter wheat area.Besides, the F3 population showed an approximate 3∶1 resistant to susceptible separation ratio, and the mean diseased spikelets rate of F3 resistant single plant was 20.2%,which still maintained strong scab-resistance.In conclusion,Shengxuan 6 can be widely used to improve wheat scab-resistance as a core parent in Huanghuai winter wheat area. |
