Oat is the seventh cultivated crop in the word, which is an important forage and food crop in Northern China. Oat plays an important role in the dryland farming system due to its drought resistance and infertility tolerance. To clarify the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of global oat production will benefit the adjustment and optimization of the oat production in China. Based on global data from 1961 to 2019,we used the linear regression model, contribution rate, and dominance index to analyze the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of global oat production. We found that the global oat harvest area and total yield was decreased in the past 59 years. Europe is the center of global oat production, and its total yield accounted for 58.2%,67.4% and 62.6% in the world during 1961-1980,1981-1998,and 1999-2019,respectively. China’s oat harvest area and total yield was decreased in past years, but the contribution rate to global oat production was increased from 2.0% to 3.0%. In 2019,the total oat yield of China reached 496 thousand tons, which ranks at the 10th in the world. Compared with the United States,Canada,Finland,Australia, and other major producing countries, although the overall oat production in China is still backward, the scale advantage index and efficiency advantage index was increased. Therefore,it is of great significance for the sustainable development of oat in China to optimize and adjust the harvest area of oat and improve the per unit area yield level. |
