In order to evaluate the application value of SSR marker Xgwm46 associated with kernel weight in breeding,442 wheat varieties (lines) in Yellow-Huai River Valley Winter Wheat Zone were genotyped using Xgwm46 to determine the allelic variation types and frequencies.Furthermore, the correlation analysis between Xgwm46 allelic variations and thousand kernel weight (TKW),kernel length (KL),kernel width (KW) and kernel area (KA) was conducted, and the value of each allelic variation in breeding was discussed. The results showed that a total of three types of allelic variation (A,B and C) can be detected by Xgwm46,and the frequencies were 31.90%,55.20% and 12.90%,respectively.Correlation analysis showed that significant difference was found in TKW (P<0.001),KL (P<0.05),KW (P<0.001) and KA (P<0.001) between B and C allelic variations, and significantly positive correlation was also found between B allelic variation and kernel weight traits, while significantly negative correlation was found between C allelic variation and kernel weight traits.Phenotypic changes of kernel traits showed that KL,KW,KA,and TKW of B allelic variation was 0.16 mm,0.10 mm,0.81 mm and 1.98 g more than those of C allelic variation, respectively, which indicated the positive effect of B allelic variation was significant. In conclusion,SSR marker Xgwm46 was effective for selecting agronomic characters of kernel weight,in which B allelic variation was superior allele for the kernel weight and its constituent elements. The study provides useful information for marker-assisted selection breeding. |
