Spring wheat germplasm from International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) possess good quality,multiresistance and wide adaptability. In order to verify the performance of wheat germplasm from CIMMYT selective nursery in spring wheat regions of Gansu,agronomic traits of 1 023 materials from CIMMYT were identified and evaluated at Lanzhou and Wuwei Huangyang in 2013-2014. The results showed that the wheat germplasm from high rainfall nursery,with small and red kernel,higher plant height,long growth period,lower 1 000-grain-weight,less kernels per spike,and lower grain yield,were not suitable to be planted directly in the tested ecological areas,but they can be used as breeding materials for quality improvement. Arid and semi-arid nursery materials from CIMMYT showed white kernel,resistance to stripe rust,70 cm in plant height and about 90 days of growth period,part of which were suitable to be planted in the area with single irrigation or irrigation before sowing. Bread wheat materials from irrigation nursery had many variations,with white kernel,long awn,higher resistance to stripe rust,5-10 cm higher in plant height,and lower or equivalent grain yield,compared with CK Ningchun 4. Totally 92 materials from CIMMYT with good agronomy characters and yield were selected. |
