Yunmai 53 is an elite wheat cultivar with high yield, stripe rust resistance and wide ecological adaptability, and it was bred by gene pyramiding using CIMMYT wheat lines. In order to reveal the genetic basis of Yumai 53 resistant to stripe rust,F1,F2 and F2∶3 populations derived from the cross of Huixianhong/Yunmai 53 were inoculated with Chinese Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici race CYR29 in the greenhouse for the identification of seedling resistance gene in Yunmai 53. Results indicated that Yunmai 53 carried a single dominant resistance gene to CYR29,temporarily designated as YrYM53. Using molecular markers to analyze F2 and F2∶3 populations,YrYM53 was mapped on chromosome 1BL,closely linked to markers barc61,barc240 and AF1/AF4 with genetic distances of 3.3,3.9 and 7.6 cM,respectively. Pedigree analysis and reactions to Pst races suggested that YrYM53 is different from previously identified genes Yr9,Yr10,Yr15,Yr24/ Yr26,YrZH84.2 and YrCN17 on chromosomes 1B or 1BL/1RS. |
