GGE [genotype main effect (G) and genotype by environment interaction (GE)] biplot is useful to identify barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivars with stability and yield performance in China. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the yield stability and adaptability of barley cultivars in the barley growing region of China. The graphical tool of GGE biplot was applied to analyze the multi-environment trials (MET) data for barley from 2012 to 2013.Twelve barley genotypes (Kenpi 7,Ganpi 7,10PJ-24,Hong 08-764,08B26,P10-6,Zhongsimai 1,09GW-01,9821,Hong 00-801,P11-1,Ganpi 6) were tested in six sites (Haerbing,Hohhot,Hongxinglong,Shangkuli,Huangyangzhen,Shihezi). The results indicate that six test sites could be grouped into three mega-environments,the best performing and candidate genotypes for three mega-environments were Ganpi 7,10PJ-24 and 9821.Among six test environments,Shihezi has the greatest discriminating ability while Haerbing and Shangkuli might be dismissed in the future trials due to the similarity of their ability of discrimination and representation to other sites.Among twelve barley genotypes,Zhongsimai 1 and 08B26 have high yield and better yield stability, while P11-1 is poor in yield performance and stability. |
